Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist, Crom Carmichael, in-studio discusses the continuation of Joe Biden’s failed foreign policies and response to Afghanistan as domestic prisoners remain without trial for the January 6th Capitol riot.
Leahy: In studio, the original all-star panelist, Crom Carmichael. Crom, we want to turn the page a little bit now to talk about some national issues. Afghanistan, the continuing debacle, and the Biden maladministration. What are your thoughts on that this morning?
Carmichael: When you have somebody who has fundamentally bad judgment, you have to ask yourself, okay. Is it possible that they can have bad judgment in one area and they can have good judgment in another area?
And in some cases, that could be true. It could be that some people have really good ideas on economic policy and they have bad ideas on foreign policy. So we have to break it down and look at it, because what we do know is Biden’s foreign policy history is absolutely terrible.
Bob Gates, as we’ve talked about, has said he’s the worst person in Washington in terms of their judgment on foreign policy of anyone he knows.
Leahy: He’s been wrong on every major issue over 40 years.
Carmichael: Forty years. And in this case, let’s look at – let’s try to look at what this is. David Petraeus wrote a really, really fine article in The Wall Street Journal. I don’t know that I agree with everything in it, but there were some things that he said there that were quite interesting.
The Afghan country prior to our involvement or even Russia’s involvement was really a seventh-century civilization. In the seventh century in Europe, we weren’t a lot different from the 7th century in Afghanistan, economically.
And the way that Europe was set up in the seventh century was very similar. In Europe, you called them kings and in Afghanistan, you might have called them warlords.
Leahy: Tribal leaders.
Carmichael: Tribal leaders. But whatever it was, it was still people who ruled by force. And so Western civilization over a period of centuries, the institution of Western civilization, evolved into a belief that individuals were superior and individuals had moral superiority over governments.
And then the question is whether or not those ideas would hold over time. Biden does not believe that. Biden puts the government over the people.
And so if you really think about it, Biden is treating the members of the Taliban with more respect than he treats the opposition here domestically.
Leahy: That’s quite true.
Carmichael: He’s holding people in prison in Washington, D.C., without trial for walking into the Capitol on January 6th.
Leahy: And in some cases, the door was opened to them by the Capitol police.
Carmichael: And in other cases, we now know that the FBI was among those who incited the incursion into the Capitol. And then along the same lines, we see that the FBI has exonerated the Capitol Hill police officer who shot and killed Ashley Babbitt, and without warning.
Leahy: She was unarmed.
Carmichael: She was unarmed, and he was not in danger. And this gets into the – where we have now two tiers of government. By the way, that’s the only person who was killed on January 6th as a result of the incursion.
The only person. And this person has been exonerated and essentially, the prosecutor isn’t even going to look at the case. But there will be a civil suit.
There is a civil suit. Ashley Babbitt’s family. Her husband has sued the officer, and I suppose whatever institution.
Leahy: So they know the officer’s name.
Carmichael: Oh, yes, they do. They know the officer’s name. And, in fact, a lot of people know the officer’s name. But in this case, the media doesn’t want to report the officer’s name, just as the media never reported the name of the so-called whistleblower in the Trump Ukraine call. Isn’t it the media’s job to report things that make people uncomfortable, as Phil Valentine said?
Leahy: Uncomfortable. As Phil Valentine would say.
